Family Ministry

Family Ministry

family_ministry1Family Ministry is about support for families and individuals in all stages of life, from the birth of the first child to when the last child leaves the 'nest'.

The aim of Family Ministry is to provide on-going, accessible education and support for parents, the primary educators of children, at parish and diocesan level. Pastoral Counselling and Bereavement Counselling as well as Bereavement Support Groups for Adults and Children are further services offered to families through Family Ministry located in the Pastoral Centre.

Rainbows

Rainbows Bereavement Care for Children... it doesn't need to hurt forever.

RainbowsWhen something significant happens in a family, the entire family is affected. Though death and separation appear to be only a grown-up problem, it does have a profound effect on children and younger people.

Rainbows is a 14-week support programme for children/teens who have suffered the loss of a parent, grandparent, brother or sister through death or separation. Rainbow offers: Peer support, warm relaxed atmosphere, a trained caring adult, the use of art and play, an opportunity for children to express their feelings.

Training Workshops are run for Rainbows Bereavement Facilitators to work with grieving children.
